How to Free Up Space and Download Your Data on TikTok

Over time, TikTok can store a lot of temporary data on your phone, which can slow it down or take up valuable storage. Here’s how to clear your cache to speed up the app and how to request a copy of all your personal data.
1. Clear Your Cache to Free Up Space
The "cache" is temporary data that helps TikTok load content faster. Clearing it is safe and will not delete your account, drafts, or posted videos. It's a great way to fix slowness or glitches.
Go to your Profile and tap the ☰ (Menu) icon in the top-right.
Select Settings and privacy.
Scroll down to the "Cache & Cellular" section and tap on Free up space.
Under "Cache," tap the Clear button. You will see the storage space being freed up.
2. Download Your TikTok Data
For privacy or personal backup, you can request a file containing your account information. This includes your profile, video history, comment history, and settings.
Go to Profile > ☰ (Menu) > Settings and privacy.
Tap on Account.
Select Download your data.
Choose a file format (TXT or JSON) and tap Request data.
The file will take a few days to prepare. Once it's ready, it will appear in the "Download data" tab in the same section, where it will be available to download for up to four days.
